SPEKS-KONNEKT – 2017

Speks is excited to present a look into our Speks-KONNEKT Culture Committee’s activities and how we cultivate and maintain our company culture throughout the year. The material below encompasses many of the fun and educational activities we partook in over the course of 2017.

We do our best to constantly challenge ourselves and motivate one another to try new things, which inspired so many of our fun and fabulous new experiences this year. Speks-KONNEKT encourages health and culture by promoting its employees to take on a health, fun, and volunteer initiative each quarter. The health initiative promotes healthy living and lifestyle within the company, fun activities increase company morale which also provides many opportunities for team-building. Volunteer events encourage giving back and being involved in our local community.

We kicked off the beginning of last year with a super-fun team building activity! We challenged ourselves to be artsy and participated in a Wine and Canvas painting event held by local art studio Art of Merlot in Old Town Scottsdale.

An instructor led us in structuring our paintings while we each put our own spin on our picture. We ended the evening laughing, covered in paint, and with 6 new pieces of awesome art for our office.

One of our health activities included a hour long training session at a local boxing studio, Camelback Boxing, in Phoenix. We had a blast and got an insane cardio challenge! The instructors pushed our limits and encouraged us to go farther than we thought we could go.

One of our other fun and fabulous team opportunities was the chance to volunteer with Project C.U.R.E. in Tempe, AZ. They are a non-profit organization that collects superfluous medical supplies from healthcare facilities and hospitals in the US and distribute them to developing countries around the world.  Thanks to the dedication of thousands of volunteers nationwide, two to three cargo containers of life-saving aid leave Project C.U.R.E.’s warehouses every week.

This past fall, we were given the opportunity to assist with the packaging and shipping of supplies. We thought it was such a blast! Time flew by while we also knew we were helping people in need.

On top of all of the amazing things we got to do as a team, both partners welcomed new additions to the Speks family this year! Speks partner, Mike Privert, and his wife Kayleen welcomed baby boy Lucas in August. Creative Director/Partner Phillip McKeage and his wife Laura were blessed with their daughter Alice last April. Both babies are gigglers and are growing big and strong!
